January 2012
Wishing all our friends good health and tight lines for 2012.
First of all we have made a few changes to our web site so it is essential to refresh all the pages that you may have book marked in your browsers. Two new pages have been added. A Bookings page and a sea fishing page.
So far we are experiencing a very mild winter. In complete contrast to last year. Rainfall has been around average and salmon reds are encouraging.
The Bandon will be Catch and Release to 12th of May and there are no Brown Tags in operation this coming season only the usual Blue ones. Thank goodness for this as the Browns caused complete confusion!
We are anxious for the survival of The Swansea Cork Ferry which is presently under Examinership. We will know more hopefully by the end of January. They have shut the service for the winter months as it was running at a loss. However when all is said and done there has been tremendous support from tourism interests both here in West Cork and also from South Wales and hopefully it will survive. It is a good service and reports coming back form visitors over 2011 were all mostly positive.
We are quite exited by the exiting bass fishing we experienced last season. Those of our guests who tried it really enjoyed themeselves. It particularly compliments salmon angling because when the river is low and the sun is splitting the heavens; that's the best time for bass. Also the location we have found is all sandy and very safe for all ages. No rocks to climb over and slip on!
Those of you who have'nt as yet booked and are thinking of returning this year please have a look at our new Bookings page where you will find the available weeks.
Best Wishes
